What Pathery knows about you.

Pathery does not collect your data. There is no server that receives your entries, no database, and no way for anyone at Pathery to read what you write.

They are saved on your device only. Pathery keeps your entries in your browser’s local storage, so you can come back to them later.

They are deleted after seven days. You do not need to do anything. To remove them sooner, clear your browsing data for this site in your browser settings.

On a shared device, clear your browser data when you finish. Until the seven days are up, anyone else using the same device and browser could open Pathery and see your entries.

Pathery does not ask who you are. It does not use advertising cookies, does not build a profile of you, and does not follow you to other websites.

Two services are involved in loading Pathery:

• Google Fonts supplies the typefaces. Your browser requests them from Google, which means Google receives your IP address as part of that request.
• Cloudflare provides hosting and Web Analytics, which counts page views and referrers. It uses no cookies and does not track people across sites or over time.

Neither service receives anything you type into Pathery, because your entries never leave your device.

Giving your email address is entirely optional. Pathery works fully without it, and nothing on the site is withheld if you choose not to.

What is collected. Your email address and the date you signed up. Nothing else. You are not asked for your name, and you are never asked why you are using Pathery.

What it is used for. Occasional notes about Pathery itself: new tools as they are released, and significant changes to the site. Roughly once a month, and often less.

Your consent is needed, and Pathery cannot send you these notes without it. After you enter your address you will receive one email asking you to confirm. If you do not confirm, your address is deleted and you hear nothing further.

It will not be used for anything else. It will not be used to market anything other than Pathery, it will not be sold, and it will not be passed to any third party for their own marketing.

It is never linked to your entries. This is not a promise but a structural fact: your entries never leave your device, so there is nothing to link them to.

You can opt out at any time, free of charge. Every email contains an unsubscribe link, or you can email [email protected] and ask to be removed. Your address is then deleted rather than flagged.

Where it is stored. The list is held by Buttondown, a newsletter service based in the United States, which processes it on Pathery’s behalf and does not use it for its own purposes.

How long it is kept. Until you unsubscribe. Unconfirmed addresses are deleted after 30 days.

You can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email [email protected]. Since the only thing held is an email address, these requests are usually resolved the same day.

Pathery is intended for adults and is not designed for children.

Pathery will add optional accounts in future, so that people can save their work across devices. That will change how data is handled, and this policy will be rewritten before any such feature goes live. The date at the top always shows when it was last updated.
